Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart Flughafenstraße 1 5020 Salzburg‑Flughafen State of Salzburg Austria
W. A. Mozart Salzburg Airport (SZG) opened in 1926 and remains the compact international gateway to Salzburg and the Austrian Alps, operating from a single passenger terminal that handles regional and seasonal traffic. Small but important for tourism, SZG is a key entry point for winter skiers and summer travelers heading to nearby resorts and to nearby Bavaria. The airport is about 4 km west of Salzburg city center and is well connected by frequent public buses, shuttle services and taxis to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof and the city, though there’s no direct rail station at the terminal. Fares are generally affordable thanks to several low-cost routes, but prices can spike during peak ski season. Carriers serving Salzburg include Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Wizz Air and Lufthansa, with several leisure operators running seasonal bases.
