Frederic Chopin Airport (WAW), 1 Żwirki i Wigury Street, 00-906 Warsaw, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland
Frederic Chopin Airport (WAW), commonly called Okęcie, opened in 1934 and today operates from one main passenger terminal with two interconnected halls, serving as Poland’s largest and busiest international gateway. Located about 10 km south of central Warsaw, Chopin offers direct rail and frequent bus and tram connections to the city center plus fast road links and plenty of taxi and rideshare options, making transfers straightforward. It’s the primary hub for LOT Polish Airlines and supports several seasonal and charter operators, and is generally regarded as moderately priced for travelers—with competitive fares and affordable ground transport compared with many Western European capitals.
