Warsaw-Modlin Airport (WMI) opened for commercial traffic in 2012 and operates from a single compact terminal, serving as Warsaw’s secondary, budget-friendly gateway. Small but busy, Modlin is important for low-cost travel to the Polish capital and surrounding regions, with a long-time Ryanair base and regular services from other budget carriers. The airport lies about 35–40 km northwest of central Warsaw and is linked by a short shuttle to Modlin railway station, frequent regional trains and direct airport buses to the city, plus easy road access via the A2/E77. Travelers generally find fares and fees more affordable here than at Warsaw’s main airport.
