Marka International Airport opened in the 1950s and today operates a single small passenger terminal, serving as Amman’s compact, convenient gateway for regional and general aviation rather than a major international hub. Located in the Marka district just northeast of central Amman, it’s a short 15–20 minute drive to downtown and is well connected by taxis, local buses and private transfers—making it a handy alternative for quick domestic, charter and training flights. The airport hosts regional carriers, charters and private operators rather than a flagship airline hub, and is generally seen as a more budget-friendly option for short-haul travel around Jordan.
