Chandigarh Airport (IXC) opened in the early 1970s and today operates as a compact, regional international airport with a single main terminal serving both domestic and limited international services. Located in Mohali just 10–15 km from Chandigarh city centre, the airport is well connected by taxis, app-based cabs, regional buses and easy road links to nearby Panchkula and Mohali; Chandigarh railway station is a short drive away. IXC is a medium-sized gateway for northern India, popular with budget-conscious travelers thanks to frequent low-cost carrier schedules and generally moderate fares. While not a major airline hub, carriers such as IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistara and Air India maintain numerous routes from Chandigarh.
