George Enescu International Airport in Bacău opened in the late 1940s and operates from a single passenger terminal, functioning as a compact regional gateway to northeastern Romania and nearby Moldova. Modest in size but strategically important for local travel, the airport handles scheduled domestic services, seasonal international charters and an increasing share of low-cost routes. It lies just a short drive from Bacău city centre with regular bus and taxi connections and straightforward road links to the E85, making transfers easy. Generally more affordable than Romania’s larger hubs, it is served by the national carrier TAROM alongside low-cost operators such as Wizz Air and Blue Air.
