Founded in 1992, Turkmenistan Airlines is the state flag carrier of Turkmenistan based in Ashgabat. Operating as a full-service national airline rather than a low-cost carrier, it offers scheduled domestic and international flights across the CIS, the Middle East and parts of Europe. Advantages include government backing, direct regional connections, generally competitive fares and occasional modern equipment; disadvantages are a relatively limited route network, mixed onboard service and punctuality records, parts of an aging fleet, limited partnerships and sparse customer information.
