Air India Express, founded in 2005, is the low-cost short-haul subsidiary of India's flag carrier, operating primarily point-to-point domestic and Gulf routes with a fleet of Boeing 737s. Advantages include low fares, straightforward connectivity on high-demand sectors and a relatively young single-aisle fleet. Disadvantages are limited onboard service and legroom, ancillary fees, a smaller route network and variable punctuality compared with full-service competitors. It is positioned as a low-cost carrier and does not have a widely publicized Skytrax rating as of mid-2024.
