La Seu d'Urgell Airport opened in the early 1980s and was upgraded for commercial use around 2010; this compact airport has a single terminal and a short runway that makes it an important regional gateway to the Catalan Pyrenees and neighbouring Andorra. Ground access is straightforward by road with shuttle buses and taxis linking La Seu d'Urgell and Andorra la Vella (roughly a 20–40 minute drive depending on conditions), while rail and larger airports are a drive away. The airport is generally budget-friendly for travelers, with low terminal fees and occasional low-cost regional flights, and it is used primarily by small regional carriers and charter operators rather than major airline hubs.
