Barcelona-El Prat Airport opened in 1918 and today operates with two main passenger terminals (T1 and T2), serving as Spain’s second-busiest airport and a major gateway to Catalonia. Located about 12 km southwest of central Barcelona, it’s well connected by Aerobús shuttles to Plaça Catalunya, the R2 commuter train and regional services, Metro L9 Sud to the terminals, regular buses, taxis and the C-32 motorway for car hire. The airport is a key base for Vueling and hosts extensive low-cost carrier traffic, making it generally affordable for budget travelers, though on-site food and services can push prices higher.
