Port Harcourt International Airport (PHC), located at Omagwa just outside Port Harcourt, was established in the late 1970s and operates from a single main terminal with dedicated domestic and international sections. This medium-sized regional airport is the principal gateway to Rivers State and the Niger Delta, handling a mix of business and domestic leisure traffic. It’s accessible by road—roughly a 30–45 minute drive from Port Harcourt city center depending on traffic—with taxis, shared shuttles and hotel transfers commonly available. Fares are generally moderate compared with larger international hubs, and the airport acts as a focus city for domestic carriers such as Air Peace while also hosting services from Arik Air, Dana Air and other regional airlines.
