O'Hare International Airport, originally built as Orchard Place in 1942 and moved into full commercial service in 1955, is Chicago’s vast international gateway with roughly four passenger terminals serving domestic and long-haul flights. As one of the busiest airports in the U.S., O'Hare is a major hub for United Airlines and American Airlines, offering extensive route choices that often translate into competitive fares for bargain-conscious travelers. Ground links are excellent: the CTA Blue Line trains to downtown Chicago, an automated airport transit system between terminals, regional buses, and direct highway access make connections straightforward. On-site dining and parking can be pricey, but plentiful carriers keep ticket prices attractive for many routes.
