Founded in 1983, Air One was an Italian short-haul carrier that positioned itself as a low-cost competitor on domestic and European routes until its operations were largely merged into Alitalia in 2008–2009. Advantages included competitive fares, a focused domestic network and straightforward no-frills service that appealed to price-conscious travelers; disadvantages were limited long-haul connectivity, less comprehensive onboard amenities, variable punctuality and service consistency compared with legacy carriers, and an occasionally aging fleet. It did not hold a notable Skytrax rating.
