Yundum International Airport opened in the 1940s and today operates a single main passenger terminal, serving as The Gambia’s compact but busy international gateway. The airport sits roughly 20 km from central Banjul and is easily reached by taxi, shared minibuses, hotel shuttles and car rental, with straightforward connections to Serekunda and coastal hotels. Generally affordable for travelers, Yundum offers competitive regional fares and modest airport charges; it is not a major airline hub but functions as the base for national and regional carriers when active.
