Blaise Diagne International Airport opened in 2017 and serves as Senegal’s modern international gateway, replacing Dakar’s older airport. The facility features one main passenger terminal designed to handle roughly 3 million travelers a year and has quickly become an important West African hub for regional and international connections. Located in Diass about 45 km southeast of downtown Dakar, it’s reachable by highway with regular shuttle buses, taxis and car rental options—plans for a rail link remain future projects. On-site prices tend to be mid-range (taxis and airport kiosks can be pricier than the city), while flight fares are often competitive thanks to Air Senegal basing operations here alongside several regional carriers.
