Wonju Airport

Opened in the 1970s, Wonju Airport (WJU) is a compact regional airport serving Wonju and central Gangwon Province, with a single small terminal that’s easy to navigate for domestic travelers. The airport’s modest size makes it an efficient choice for quick connections and it functions as a practical gateway to nearby ski resorts, hiking areas and national parks. Located roughly a 20–30 minute drive from Wonju city center, WJU is linked by local buses, airport shuttles and taxis. Not a major airline hub, it hosts regional and low-cost carriers on seasonal routes (frequently to Jeju) and is generally considered an affordable option for domestic travel.
