Pohang Airport

Pohang Airport (KPO), opened in the 1970s, is a compact regional airport with a single small passenger terminal serving Pohang and nearby Gyeongju; it punches above its size by supporting local industry (notably POSCO) and seaside tourism. The facility handles mainly domestic flights to Seoul and other Korean cities, making it an important but low-traffic gateway for business and leisure travelers. Located roughly 7–10 km from central Pohang, it’s accessible by taxis, local buses and shuttle services, with connections onward via Pohang’s rail and regional bus network. Fares are generally affordable for domestic routes, and while it isn’t a major airline hub, the airport is regularly served by Korean domestic carriers and occasional low-cost flights.
