Tirana International Airport

Tirana International Airport opened in 1957 and, after major modernizations in the 2000s, now operates from a single, modern passenger terminal that serves as Albania’s main gateway. This small-to-medium-sized airport handles several million travelers a year and is key for flights to and from the Balkans and Europe. Located about 17 km northwest of central Tirana, it’s well connected by the SH2 highway, regular airport shuttle buses, taxis and car hire, making transfers quick and simple. TIA is generally affordable for travelers with many low-cost routes; it hosts bases for Air Albania and Albawings and a strong presence from Wizz Air.
