Palese Airport, officially Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport, opened in 1934 and operates from a single main passenger terminal, acting as the key gateway to Puglia for both domestic and international travelers. This small-to-medium sized airport handles a mix of scheduled and seasonal flights, serving Bari and nearby coastal towns with convenient links to popular destinations like Alberobello and Matera. Located about 8 km northwest of Bari city centre, it’s well connected by the Aeroporto rail link, frequent shuttle buses and taxis for quick transfers to Bari Centrale. With bases for Ryanair and regular seasonal services from easyJet and Wizz Air, fares tend to be more affordable than at Italy’s larger hubs.
