Tartu Airport, opened in the 1930s, is a compact regional gateway serving Estonia’s second city and surrounding southern regions; the facility operates from one small passenger terminal and handles mostly regional and seasonal services. Though modest in size, it’s important for business and student travel to the University of Tartu and for connections to the Baltics and Nordic countries. The airport sits just a short drive—about 5–10 minutes—from Tartu city centre and is linked by local buses, taxis and convenient parking for cars and rental vehicles. Fares tend to be affordable on regional and charter routes, and the field has no major airline hub status, instead hosting occasional regional carriers and charter operators.
