Takoradi Airport (IATA: TKD) was established in the 1940s and today operates from a single small passenger terminal as a compact but important regional gateway for Ghana’s Western Region. Serving Sekondi-Takoradi and surrounding oilfields, the airport handles regular domestic services and numerous charter and helicopter flights to offshore platforms, plus occasional military activity. It’s easily reached by road from Takoradi and Sekondi with taxis, shuttles and limited bus links, and offers quick connections to Accra by air or a few hours by road. Generally more affordable than larger international airports, TKD is served by domestic carriers such as Africa World Airlines and PassionAir.
