Kotoka International Airport

Kotoka International Airport opened in 1958 and today operates two main passenger terminals (the modern Terminal 3 added in 2018 plus the older domestic terminal and a small executive facility), serving as Ghana’s primary international gateway and a key West African hub. Located just 6–8 km from central Accra near the Airport Residential Area and Osu, it’s easily reached by taxis, ride‑shares, shuttle buses and good road links toward Tema and the coast, with rail plans in development. Generally affordable for budget travelers compared with European hubs—though on‑site food and parking can be pricey—Kotoka is a base for local carriers such as Africa World Airlines and hosts many international airlines including British Airways, KLM and Turkish Airlines.
