Opened in 1936, Congonhas Airport is São Paulo's centrally located domestic gateway with a single terminal handling high-frequency short-haul flights; it's one of Brazil's busiest urban airports and the city's convenient alternative to Guarulhos for travelers headed across the country. Located about 8 km south of downtown São Paulo, Congonhas is easily reached by taxis, rideshare, regular buses and nearby metro connections, making it ideal for business trips and weekend getaways. Generally affordable thanks to strong competition among domestic carriers, on-site shops and dining can be pricier. The airport acts as a major base/focus city for LATAM Brasil and Gol, with regular Azul services.
