Sacramento International Airport

Sacramento International Airport opened in 1967 and today operates with two main terminals, serving as the primary gateway to California’s capital and nearby destinations like Lake Tahoe and the Gold Country. Medium-sized but regionally important, the airport handles a mix of domestic and seasonal flights and is known for shorter security lines and an easy layout. It’s conveniently reached via Interstate 5 and I-80 with regular regional buses, shuttles, rideshares and car-rental shuttles linking downtown Sacramento and neighboring cities—light-rail connections are still pending. Generally more affordable than Bay Area airports, it hosts significant operations from Southwest and Alaska Airlines.
