Rhodes International “Diagoras” Airport opened in 1977 and operates with two main passenger terminals, handling heavy summer traffic as the primary gateway to the island of Rhodes and the Dodecanese. Medium-sized but busy in peak season, it’s about 14 km southwest of Rhodes town and is well connected by regular KTEL buses, taxis, car hire and shuttle transfers to the city, Lindos and nearby ferry ports. The airport is popular with budget travelers thanks to many low-cost and charter links—prices stay affordable outside peak weeks but can spike in summer. Major carriers with strong presence include Aegean, Ryanair, easyJet and several charter operators; it functions more as a seasonal base than a large airline hub.
