Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), opened in the late 1980s, is a medium-to-large international gateway serving Izmir and Turkey’s Aegean coast with two main passenger terminals (domestic and international). As one of the country’s busier regional airports, it handles abundant seasonal leisure traffic alongside regular domestic routes. Accessibility is strong — the airport sits roughly 18 km from downtown Izmir and is linked by İZBAN commuter rail, HAVAŞ shuttles, regional buses and straightforward highway connections, making transfers to the city quick and easy. Generally considered affordable thanks to low-cost carriers and charter competition, ADB is an important base for SunExpress and sees heavy operations from Turkish Airlines and Pegasus, plus many European summer services.
