Mitiga, Tripoli Airport

Mitiga, Tripoli Airport (MJI) traces its roots back to the 1930s when it began life as a military airfield and today operates as Tripoli’s smaller, centrally located airport with one main passenger terminal serving domestic, regional and charter flights. Compact but strategically important when the larger international airport is out of service, Mitiga sits roughly 8–10 km from central Tripoli and is reached mainly by taxi, private transfer and limited shuttle or bus links. Travelers find fares generally affordable thanks to regional carriers and charters, and the airport acts as a base for Libyan Airlines and several smaller regional operators.
