Malindi Airport

Malindi Airport (MYD), first established as a coastal airstrip in the 1940s and expanded over the decades, is a small regional airport with a single passenger terminal serving the Kenyan coast. A key gateway for beach resorts in Malindi, Watamu and Kilifi, it handles mainly domestic flights and seasonal international charters and is an important entry point for safari and seaside travelers. The airport is a short taxi or shuttle ride from Malindi town and connects by road to Mombasa and inland destinations; local matatus and car hires are widely available. Not a major international hub, it acts as a base for regional carriers and charter operators (notably Safarilink and smaller charters) and is generally considered affordable, especially for budget domestic flights and seasonal deals.
