Gusti Syamsir Alam Airport (KBU) is Bengkulu’s primary regional airport, opened in the 1980s and expanded in the 2010s to handle growing domestic traffic. The compact facility has a single modest terminal and serves as the main gateway to Bengkulu province, with regular flights to Jakarta and other Sumatran cities. It’s easily reached by a short road transfer from Bengkulu city via taxis, minibuses and local shuttle services, with onward bus connections across the region. Not a major airline hub, it’s served by national and budget carriers such as Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air/Wings Air and Batik Air, and is generally considered affordable for travelers seeking cheap domestic fares.
