Syamsudin Noor International Airport (BDJ), originally established in the 1940s, is the main gateway to South Kalimantan serving Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru with a single modern passenger terminal and steadily growing amenities. As a medium-sized regional airport it handles a mix of domestic and limited international flights and acts as a regional base for several Indonesian carriers, including Lion Air group and Garuda Indonesia services, plus Batik Air, Citilink and Sriwijaya connections. Located roughly 20–30 km from Banjarmasin city center, BDJ is easily reached by taxi, shuttle buses, ride-hailing and regional buses, and is generally seen as affordable for budget travelers thanks to strong low-cost carrier presence.
