Gunnison Airport (GUC), officially Gunnison–Crested Butte Regional Airport, opened in the mid-20th century (around the 1950s) and operates from a single small passenger terminal that handles seasonal surges for nearby ski areas. This compact regional airport is an important gateway to the Gunnison Valley and Crested Butte, offering a handful of daily regional flights—primarily seasonal service by carriers such as United Express and American Eagle—rather than serving as a major hub. Ground access is easy with rental cars, shuttle services and limited local transit connecting to Gunnison and Crested Butte (roughly a 30–60 minute drive), and fares tend to run higher during peak winter and summer travel seasons.
