Asahikawa Airport

Asahikawa Airport (IATA: AKJ), opened in the 1960s, is a compact regional airport with a single terminal that serves as the main gateway to central Hokkaido, including Asahikawa city, Daisetsuzan National Park and nearby Furano ski and flower areas. It handles a mix of domestic flights and seasonal international charters, with regular services from carriers such as ANA, JAL and Air Do and occasional LCC routes. Located roughly 20–30 km from downtown Asahikawa, the airport is well connected by scheduled airport buses, taxis and car rentals, making transfers straightforward. Fares tend to be moderately priced thanks to domestic competition, though peak winter and holiday periods can be pricier.
