Swoop, founded in 2017 and launched in 2018 as a WestJet subsidiary, is a Canadian ultra low-cost carrier operating a fleet of Boeing 737s on point-to-point routes across Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Advantages include very low base fares, transparent à-la-carte pricing and frequent use of secondary airports to reduce costs. Disadvantages include numerous ancillary fees, a more limited route network versus legacy airlines, basic onboard service and seating comfort, and punctuality that can be variable. It targets price-conscious leisure travelers and currently has no public Skytrax rating.
