Founded in 1993, Kogalymavia operated under the MetroJet brand as a Russian charter carrier focused on holiday routes between Moscow and Mediterranean, North African and Middle Eastern destinations. Advantages included competitive charter pricing and a focused leisure network offering seasonal connectivity. Disadvantages were a small fleet with limited scheduled services, variable punctuality and service levels, and serious reputation damage after the 2015 Sinai accident that led to suspended operations and reduced activity. It was a charter/leisure operator rather than a low‑cost or premium carrier and has no known Skytrax rating.
