Founded in 1993, AirAsia is a Malaysian low-cost carrier offering high-frequency short-haul services across Southeast Asia and select international markets. Advantages include very low base fares, frequent promotions, a modern single-aisle fleet that lowers operating costs, and an extensive regional route network. Disadvantages are the low-cost service model—paid ancillaries, tighter seat pitch and limited onboard amenities—and occasional variability in punctuality and customer-service consistency.
