Air Tanzania, founded in 1977, is Tanzania's state-owned flag carrier operating domestic and regional services centred on Dar es Salaam. Advantages include a strategic domestic network, generally competitive fares and recent efforts to modernize and expand the fleet. Disadvantages are a relatively small and mixed-age fleet, limited international reach, variable punctuality and inconsistent onboard service and ground handling across airports. It operates as a conventional carrier rather than a low-cost airline and offers limited premium/high-comfort product. Codeshare partnerships are limited, so connectivity beyond its network can require separate bookings. It is not rated by Skytrax.
