Opened in 2011, Zhongwei Airport is a small regional airport serving Zhongwei city and the popular Shapotou desert scenic area, with a single terminal handling mostly domestic flights and seasonal charters. As the closest air gateway to the Yellow River dunes, it plays an important local role rather than acting as a national hub; you’ll find scheduled services from major Chinese carriers and a handful of regional airlines. Ground access is straightforward with taxis, shuttle buses and highway links to Zhongwei and nearby Yinchuan, making transfers to attractions easy.
