Zhezhazgan Airport

Zhezhazgan Airport, opened in the 1950s during the Soviet era, is a compact regional airport serving the mining city of Zhezhazgan and the surrounding Karaganda region. With a single small terminal and a runway capable of handling medium-sized jets, it provides essential connectivity for business travelers and residents rather than long-haul tourism. The airport sits roughly 10–15 km from the city center and is reachable by road via taxis and limited shuttle or bus services, linking to larger hubs such as Nur-Sultan and Almaty. It hosts scheduled domestic flights operated by Air Astana and regional carriers; it is not a major hub and is generally affordable, though fares can be higher than at larger airports when service is limited.
