Yoron Airport opened in 1978 and is a compact regional airfield with a single small terminal and one runway, acting as the main gateway to laid‑back Yoron Island’s beaches and villages. Though modest in size, the airport is important for local tourism and island residents, offering regular connections to Naha and Kagoshima via regional carriers such as Ryukyu Air Commuter and Japan Air Commuter (JAL group); it isn’t a major hub but provides reliable feeder service.
