Yanbu Airport opened in the 1980s and operates from a single passenger terminal, serving as a compact but important regional gateway on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. The airport handles mainly domestic flights and business traffic for Yanbu’s industrial area, with regular services to Riyadh, Jeddah and seasonal connections tied to pilgrimage routes. Ground access is straightforward—about a 20–25 minute drive from Yanbu city via the coastal highway, with taxis, car hire and limited shuttle options available—making it convenient for both tourists and oil- and petrochemical-sector travelers. Not a major airline hub, Yanbu is served by Saudia and low-cost carriers such as flynas and flyadeal, and is generally considered more affordable than larger Saudi airports for budget-minded flyers.
