Yakutat Airport opened in the early 1940s as a U.S. Army airfield and today operates as a single-terminal regional airport serving the remote Gulf of Alaska community of Yakutat. Compact but important for access to fishing, glacier tours and outdoor recreation, the airport handles scheduled regional flights and charter services rather than large jets. It’s a short drive from downtown Yakutat with limited public transport—local shuttles, taxis and rental vehicles are the norm—and nearby seaplane bases add flexibility for coastal travel. Not a hub, Yakutat is mainly served by Alaska Airlines and small regional carriers; fares are generally reasonable for short regional hops but can spike seasonally.
