Umea Airport

Umeå Airport opened in 1962 and today operates from a single passenger terminal, serving as Västerbotten’s main gateway to northern Sweden. Modest in size but regionally important, it handles several hundred thousand travelers a year and offers regular connections to Stockholm and other domestic destinations. The airport is conveniently located just south of Umeå city, with frequent local buses, airport shuttles, taxis and short driving times to the city center, plus on-site car hire. Generally affordable for domestic and regional flights, fares can rise on international or seasonal routes. While not a major hub, it’s a key base for Swedish regional carriers such as BRA and hosts frequent SAS services.
