Tromsø/Langnes Airport (TOS) opened in 1964 and remains the main air gateway to northern Norway, with a single terminal handling domestic and seasonal international flights. Compact but busy, Tromsø Airport is a vital regional hub for travel to the Arctic, offering connections across Norway and onward to Scandinavia; it acts as a key base for regional carrier Widerøe and is well served by SAS and Norwegian. Located about 5 km from Tromsø city center, the airport is easily reached by regular airport buses, local buses, taxis and a short drive on the E8, making transfers quick and convenient. As with much of Norway, on-site services and fares tend to be pricier than in mainland Europe, though competitive flight deals can still make Tromsø accessible for budget-conscious travelers.
