Trelew Airport, officially Almirante Marcos A. Zar Airport, opened in the early 1940s and today operates from a single main terminal, serving as a compact yet important regional gateway to Chubut and Argentine Patagonia. The airport handles mostly domestic flights—frequent connections to Buenos Aires—and is the closest air access for tourists bound for Puerto Madryn and the wildlife-rich Peninsula Valdés. Located about 10 km from Trelew city center, it’s reachable by taxi, airport shuttles and regional buses with easy road links to surrounding towns. Not a major hub, it’s regularly served by Aerolíneas Argentinas and low-cost carriers like Flybondi and JetSmart, and fares are generally affordable compared with larger international airports.
