Srinagar International Airport

Sheikh ul-Alam (Srinagar) International Airport, established in the early 1960s, operates a single passenger terminal and is the primary air gateway to the Kashmir Valley for tourism and regional travel. Compact but busy, the airport handles mostly domestic services with growing international connections and is located roughly 12 km from Srinagar city in Budgam district, well linked by taxis, shared cabs and regular road shuttles (the nearest major railhead is several hours away in Jammu). Not a major airline hub, it functions as a regional focus for carriers like IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet; fares are generally competitive on domestic routes though prices climb sharply in peak season.
