Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, commonly called Sea–Tac and opened in 1947, is the largest airport in the Pacific Northwest and a major gateway for domestic and transpacific travel. The facility operates out of one main terminal with multiple concourses and satellite gates, serving tens of millions of passengers a year. Located roughly 13 miles south of downtown Seattle, Sea–Tac is well connected by the Link light rail, frequent airport shuttles and direct freeway links to Tacoma and Bellevue, making transfers simple. Fares are generally competitive with several budget and legacy carriers, and it serves as a hub for Alaska Airlines and a major base for Delta Air Lines.
