Puerto Escondido Airport (PXM) opened in the mid-20th century (around the 1960s) and remains a compact regional gateway with a single passenger terminal serving the Oaxaca coast. Small but busy during surf and holiday seasons, PXM is the primary air link for Puerto Escondido, Zipolite and nearby beach towns, offering a short 10–20 minute drive to the town center and surf breaks with taxis, colectivos, shuttles and limited bus service.
