Puerto Escondido Airport (PXM) opened in the mid-20th century (around the 1960s) and remains a compact regional gateway with a single passenger terminal serving the Oaxaca coast. Small but busy during surf and holiday seasons, PXM is the primary air link for Puerto Escondido, Zipolite and nearby beach towns, offering a short 10–20 minute drive to the town center and surf breaks with taxis, colectivos, shuttles and limited bus service. The airport is generally affordable for domestic travelers, though fares rise in high season, and is regularly served by Aeroméxico Connect, Volaris and VivaAerobus on domestic routes.
