Pointe Noire Airport (PNR) opened in the 1950s and today operates a single main passenger terminal serving a compact but important regional gateway on the Atlantic coast of the Republic of the Congo. The medium-sized airport handles domestic traffic and regular regional flights, making it a convenient entry point for business and oil-industry travel to Pointe-Noire and surrounding coastal towns. Located roughly 5–8 km from downtown Pointe-Noire, the airport is easily reached by taxis, shared minibuses, hotel shuttles and rental cars via the RN1, though public-bus options are limited. PNR is generally affordable for ground services; airfares on some regional routes can be higher due to limited competition. The field acts as a base for local and regional carriers, notably servicing Trans Air Congo and other domestic operators.
