Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Airport (PKC), commonly known as Yelizovo, opened in the late 1940s and today operates from a single main passenger terminal (with separate domestic and limited international facilities), serving as the principal gateway to Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula. The airport is small-to-medium in size but regionally important for access to volcano tours, fishing lodges and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky itself, sitting roughly 30 km from the city with regular shuttle buses, taxis and road connections (no direct rail). Because of Kamchatka’s remoteness, airfares tend to be higher than average, though on-site services remain reasonably priced; Aurora and several regional carriers maintain a strong presence at PKC.
