Opened in 1997, Nsimalen Airport (serving Yaoundé) is a compact international gateway with a single main passenger terminal and the country’s second-busiest status after Douala. The airport handles a mix of domestic and regional flights and is an important entry point for government, business and NGO traffic in Cameroon. Located roughly 25–30 km south of central Yaoundé, it’s reached by taxis, shuttle buses and hire cars along the N3 highway, with reasonably straightforward connections to the city. Generally seen as affordable compared with major global hubs, Nsimalen serves as a base for national carrier Camair‑Co and several regional airlines.
